September 10, 1939 – December 20, 2020
Alice Elaine Graber, 81, died Dec. 20, 2020, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, of
complications from COVID-19. She was born Sept. 10, 1939, in Pretty Prairie to Della and
Willard "Bill" Wedel.
She lived most of her life near Pretty Prairie, leaving only for a few years when she retired. She
was a graduate of Pretty Prairie High School, and she worked at Collingwood Grain elevator,
Prairie Sunset Home, and a small grocery store in Pretty Prairie at various times during her life.
She married Reed Wayne Graber on Sept. 12, 1958, and they farmed south of Pretty Prairie for
nearly 60 years before moving to Buhler to retire. She was a member of the First Mennonite
Church and was involved in many church activities. She loved sewing and solving puzzles, and
she was better at math than her children ever were.
Survivors include her husband, Reed, Pretty Prairie; children, Debra (Katharine) of Lawrence,
and Kelson (Kenna) of Peabody; grandchildren, Reid, Jakob, Zoe, and Ava; a sister, Vera (Gary) Graber, of Nickerson; and seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Glen; and a nephew.
She was buried in the cemetery at First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie.
