Charles W. Gerber, 99, died Feb. 22, 2018, at Wheatlands Healthcare Center, Kingman.

Also known as Charlie, Chas and Chuck, he was born June 11, 1918, at Waterloo, Kansas the eldest son of Marcus and Cressie Frey Gerber. A Kingman County resident most of his life, he was a retired farmer; former owner of the International Harvester and Buick dealership; worked as a sales representative for Fruehauf Trailers and Mack Truck, Wichita; and was currently employed by Bergkamp Insurance, South Hutchinson.

Charlie was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, a 70 year member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th Degree Knight; the Kansas Motor Carriers Association; the Kingman VFW; and was a veteran of WWII and Korean Wars.

On January 10, 1948, he married Dorothy Holland at Peoria, Illinois; she died September 4, 2010. Survivors include two daughters, Deb Gerber, and Lish Webster and her husband Russell; sisters Delores Bergkamp and Ida Mae Hanna; 5 grandchildren, Chauna Button, Bryan Steyaert, Tiffany Donaldson, Steven Gerber and Matthew Schwarz; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son Steve; daughter Mindy; brother
Urban; and sisters Marcella Lefevre and Jane Thome.

Parish rosary will be 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday the 3rd also at St. Patrick's, Kingman. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m.. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 2 at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman with the family present from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made with the St. Patrick Grade School in care of Livingston Funeral Home.
