Obituary

Connie Benjamin Brown died 12/14/2025  in Kingman, Kansas.

Connie was born 7/6/1933 in Alvin, Texas to Floyd Brown Sr and Lettie (Avitts) Brown. He was one of two blessings arriving with his twin brother Carmie Brown. The family moved to Friendswood, Texas where Connie went to school and graduated high school in May of 1951. He then attended Friends Bible College in Haviland, Kansas. In September 1953, Connie was called to serve his country, and worked at the San Antonio State Hospital in Texas.

Following his completion of service, he moved to Wichita, Kansas to attend Friends University in the Fall of 1955. While there, Connie met Elaine Graber, also a twin from Pretty Prairie, Kansas. In May of 1957, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. In December of that same year, he married Elaine Graber in a double wedding ceremony with Elaine's sister and fiancé at The First Mennonite Church in Pretty Prairie, Kansas.

Before fulfilling his goal of becoming a fulltime farmer, Connie worked in the aircraft field; first, working for Whirly Bees Inc in Friendswood, Texas as a commercial pilot and a flight instructor for two years, then, at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma as a jet engine mechanic for ten years. While in Enid, Connie purchased some farm land with his brother-in-law and did wheat and cattle farming on the side.

In 1974, Connie moved to Arlington, Kansas to start his own family farm. He was a loving and caring husband to Elaine, father to Joel and Rhonda, grandfather and great grandfather to all his grandchildren. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Those who knew Connie well, knew that he had a quiet and gentle spirit. His friends and neighbors were always welcomed and he often spent time visiting in the yard or around the kitchen table. He also loved nature and the outdoors and may have gotten in trouble a time or two for climbing a tree or a windmill.

His sense of humor and wit kept his friends and loved ones laughing. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him joy and he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Connie lived a strong and steadfast life of devotion, always showing gratitude, never failing to bow his head in prayer at every meal, reading the Bible each day and recognizing the Lord's faithfulness in both good and trying times. He looked forward to meeting his Savior and being in his heavenly home. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

>>> He was preceded in death by: parents, Floyd Brown Jr, Lettie (Avitts) Brown, wife, Elaine Brown, son, Joel D. Brown and son-in-law, Curtis Alfers.
