DELMAR D. VORAN

Delmar D. Voran, 96, passed away on April 22, 2023, at Pretty Prairie, Kansas.

He was born Sept. 11, 1926, at the family farm about nine miles Southeast of Kingman, the son of Willard M. and Frieda Kaufman Voran.

He attended Pleasant Hill Grade School, located one and a half miles East of his home. In 1940 he began high school at Belmont High School and graduated from Kingman High School in 1944.

In March of 1942 he was baptized by Rev. E.J. Neunschwander and received into membership of the Bethany Mennonite Church upon confession of faith, a membership that remained until his death.

In the Fall of 1946, he met his future wife, Viola "Toots" Goering at Pretty Prairie. They were married on Aug. 22, 1948. This union was blessed with three children. He was always a farmer at heart, but spent many hours working for John Whetzel at Kingman Lumber building houses. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors, and sang in numerous male quartets and choirs. He taught Sunday School classes for nearly forty years. After retiring from the farm he learned glass etchings and stained glass artwork.

On May 19, 1995, Toots suffered a sudden heart attack and passed away at the age of 65. On April 11, 1998, he and Violet Stucky, of Moundridge were married. They relocated to Hutchinson, and each gained three more children. They enjoyed sixteen years together before Violet's illness took her life on May 17, 2014.

Delmar is survived by sons Steve (Loretta), Adrian (Rita); daughter Sharon (Alan) Bergkamp; step-sons Brad (Connie) Stucky, Gardell (Peggy) Stucky; step-daughter Bev (Shafiq) Hassan' brother Omar Voran; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
