Dennis Wayne Mitchell

Dennis Wayne Mitchell, 84, of Andover, KS, formerly of Kingman, KS, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026 in Wichita, Kansas. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026, at Kingman Christian Church, Kingman, KS. Private burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont, KS. Dennis was born in El Dorado, KS on March 31, 1942, to the late Violet Maxine (Mantooth) and Cecil Paul Mitchell. He graduated from Caldwell High School with the class of 1960, and later graduated with his Bachelor's from Wichita State University in 1972. Dennis worked as an IRS Examiner for many years retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Kingman Christian Church for many years and had served as a deacon, choir member, and board member. Dennis was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa, and especially enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren's events. On April 14, 1962 he married Shirley Loree (Blumanhourst) at Kingman Methodist Church. She preceded him in death in 2023. He is survived by: son, Greg Mitchell and wife Cathy of Wichita, KS; daughters, Lisa Parsons and husband Mark of Ellsworth, KS, Cherie Headley and husband Clint of Andover, KS, and Carla Nida and husband Troy of Cheney, KS; grandchildren, Victoria Mitchell and partner Shea Zuckerman, Nicole Gorton and husband Jeremy, Colleen DePriest and husband Cole, Ryan Parsons and wife Tiffany, Josh Parsons and partner Kate Holland, Ben Parsons and wife Savanah, Sydni Schenck and husband Taylor, Lucas Headley and wife Jojo, Kailee Treto and husband Stephen, Alvin Casper, Matthew Casper, and Addie Nida; great grandchildren, Jaylynn, John, and Jacob Gorton, Callum and Cassidy DePriest, Callen, Beckett, Mattix, and Asher Parsons, Beau Parsons, Ridge, River, and Maverick Haynes, Charlotte, Emmett, and Milo Schenck, Jace Headley, Killian and Marshall Treto, and one more on the way; brother, Tom Mitchell and wife Marilyn; nieces, Deana, Allison, and Molly and their families; and companion, Phyllis Winn. Memorial donations may be made to Kingman Christian Church in care of Headley Funeral Chapel, 813 State St., Augusta, KS 67010.
