Everett Howard Cloyd, age 91 passed away June 30th, Pretty Prairie, KS. His wife, Virginia, preceded him by 5 months and 9 days.
He was born in Driftwood, OK to parents, Ora W. and Fleda M. (Furgason) Cloyd. He was a proud Army veteran having served in the Pacific during WWII and was in the Battle of Okinawa. He was Msgt of the motor pool.
He had retired from the Post Office Garage, Wichita, KS where he was a transmission specialist. He had his own mechanic shop in Pretty Prairie and could work on anything that had a motor. He was a 32nd degree member and Past Master of the Lodge and 60 yr member of Kingman #230 AF&AM Masonic Lodge. A Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star and member of Della Chapter#172, OES, Kingman, KS. Also a member of the Consistory in Wichita, KS. A member of the Pretty Prairie Methodist Church.
He is survived by son Roger C. Cloyd,of Pretty Prairie, KS, daughter Beverly L. Duncan, Heiskell, TN, grandson, Todd A. and his wife, Terri L. Grebel, Navarre, FL. Brother, Earl Cloyd, Benton, AR and Peggy(Forrest)Cloyd, Pampa, TX, plus many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He loved to fish & hunt, ride his motorcycle, go boating and camping and spend time with friends. He also did woodworking .
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7th, from 5-7 PM at the Livingston Mortuary, Kingman, KS. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 8th at 11:00 AM in the Methodist Church, Pretty Prairie, KS. with refreshments following the service. Interment will take place at the Lone Star Cemetery, Pretty Prairie.
Donations can be made to the Methodist Church or Prairie Sunset Home, both in Pretty Prairie, KS.
