Geraldine Lois "Gerry" Cole

Allen, Texas - Geraldine "Gerry" Cole, 83, formerly of rural Arlington, Kansas, passed away September 15, 2020, in Allen, Texas. She was born September 6,1937 in Topeka, Kansas, to George and Phyllis Fritz of Grantville, Kansas. Gerry graduated from Perry High School and Kansas State University, with a degree in Home Economics.

On November 4, 1960, she married Robert "Bob" Cole in Grantville. The couple moved to Phillipsburg then Marion, Kansas, for a few years where Bob managed the CO-OP Grain Office, and Gerry was an agent at the County Extension Office. They moved to Pretty Prairie, Kansas in the early 1960's so that Bob could operate and manage the Cole Family farm, ten miles west of town. In 1975, they built a house on their land outside of Arlington where they lived until their retirement.

Gerry kept busy raising 2 boys and played many roles supporting the growth of the family farm. Gerry was very active in the community, assuming leadership positions with the United Methodist Church, Study Club, KSU Alumni Clubs (multiple), and the Ninnescah 4-H club. Her involvement with 4-H also included serving as a demonstration judge at the Kansas State Fair for many years. She also was very active in her genealogy and sat on the board of the Thomas Munson Foundation. She traveled the nation with Bob in search of her family history and published a book telling the stories of many ancestors from her branch of the Munson Family Tree.

She will be missed dearly by many as she touched many lives, young and old, in Kansas, Texas and all over. She and Bob decided many years ago to establish a Robert and Geraldine Memorial Scholarship at Kansas State University to be funded upon their passing. They both loved their alma mater and consider it a privilege to assist young men and women furthering their educational goals.

Gerry is survived by sons, Steve Cole (and wife Sharon) of Murphy, TX, and David Cole of Olathe, KS; grandchildren Jake Cole, Jamie Cole, Grayson Cole, Corrine Cole.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Phyllis, brother Galen, and husband, Bob.

With concern for the pandemic, a private graveside service will be conducted for the immediate family.
