Harland E. Schasteen, 79, died Dec. 21, 2015, at the Prairie Sunset Home.
He was born Aug. 7, 1936, at Larned, Kansas. Raised by his aunt and uncle Edith and Will Melson, he was a longtime resident of Pretty Prairie where he worked for the City of Pretty Prairie and townships.
He was a member of the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church.
On April 1, 1972, he married Francie Rhodes at Pretty Prairie. Other survivors include son Charles; daughter Cindy Snyder; half-brother John Mai; half-sisters Sharon Thomson and Linda Mai-Snead; 6 grandchildren, Geoffery, Ashleigh, Adrian, Tyra, Colby and Taitym; He was preceded in death by daughter Chris; his mother Bessie; and aunt and uncle Edith and Will Melson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 noon at the church. Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with the Church or the Prairie Sunset Home, both in care of Livingston Funeral Home.
