Harold Douglas Balding, 91, died May 1, 2018, at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham.
He was born Feb. 2, 1927, at Kiowa, Kansas, the son of Raymond Douglas and Cora Bell Wells Balding. A longtime resident of Lake City, Kansas, previously of Medicine Lodge, Derby, and Waco, Texas, he was a mechanic for Boeing, a carpenter, and a riverboat pilot.
Harold was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Derby, serving as Grand Knight and District Deputy; and the Elks Club in Pratt.
On Sept. 15, 1991, he married Esther Colburn at Pratt; she died Apr. 14, 2010. Survivors include son Ron (Liz), Kingman; daughters Terisa (Glen) Kramer, Derby, Deb Tibbetts, Liberal, and Virginia Sanborne, Wichita; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by brother James; sisters Virginia Cartwright and Eva Smith; and granddaughter Renae Tibbetts.
A Celebration of Life will be 1-3 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham.
