Helen F. Mertens, 84, died Sept. 18, 2018, at Wheatlands Healthcare Center, Kingman.
She was born April 3, 1934, at Mt. Vernon, Kansas the daughter of Henry and Margaret Hilger Jacobs. A longtime resident of the Willowdale and Kingman communities, she was a homemaker.
Helen was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Willowdale.
On May 11, 1954, she married Lawrence Mertens at Waterloo, Kansas. Other survivors include sons Darrel, Timothy, Stephen and Michael; daughters Geneva Ricke and Dolores Henning; brother Oscar Jacobs; sister Jeanette Traffas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Harold, Vincent, Richard, Sylvester and Virgil; and sisters, Sr. Loretta Jacobs, Florence Wehkamp, Delphine Schmitz, Roseann Depenbusch and Lucille Albers.
Parish rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. til rosary time at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at the St. Peter Catholic Church, Willowdale. Burial will be in the St. Peter Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with the St. Peter Catholic Church, Wheatlands Healthcare Center or Rivercross Hospice, all in care of Livingston Funeral Home.
