JAMES J. HARMON

James J. Harmon, 87, died July 4, 2023, at the Cheney Golden Age Home.

He was born Oct. 28, 1935, at Brenham, Kansas the son of James M. and Wilma Kendall Harmon.

A longtime resident of the Cheney community, he was a retired farmer and mathematics teacher.

James was a member of the Cheney Methodist Church.

In 1959, he married Adella Nikkel at Goessel, Kansas.  Other survivors include a son Marcel and his wife Michelle; daughters Chandra Gordon and her husband Rob and Kimberly Ligon and her husband Joel; and six grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and a sister Joyce Walters

Graveside services were 11:00 a.m., Tuesday. July 11, 2023 at the Haviland Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life service at the Cheney Methodist Church will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2023.
