JERRY R. "JR" ROYER

Jerry R. "JR" Royer, 83, died April 7, 2022 at Pretty Prairie.

He was born April 11, 1938, at Scott City, Kansas the son of Ernest Eugene "Jerry" and Amy Lillian Tomberlin Royer.  A longtime resident of the Pretty Prairie community, he was a manager for several businesses, a longtime referee for high school athletics, and was the former Commissioner of the Heart of the Plains.

JR was a member of the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church; the KSHSAA; selected to the Greater Wichita Officials Association Hall of Fame in 2013; Retired Officiating Coaching Association; and was heavily involved in the creation of the Links Golf Course in Pretty Prairie.

On Dec. 27, 1959, he married Nancy Seyb at Pretty Prairie.  Other survivors include children Kevin and Debbie Royer,  Kim and Joe Berning and Kari and John Heimerman; sister Kay Bennett; sister-in-law Dot Royer; grandchildren Kylea, Ken, Gentry, Jessi, Ashton and Layke; and great-grandchildren Theo, Emmett, Collins, Hattie, Aidan, Lincoln and Rory.  He was preceded in death by a brother Ted.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church.  Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.  Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.

Memorials may be made with the Prairie Sunset Home or the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church both in care of the funeral home.
