Rev. John A. Schmitt, 67, died Jan. 27, 2016, at Wichita.
He was born Dec. 18, 1948, at Wichita the son of Jake E. and Wara Paul Schmitt. He served as pastor at the Kingman United Methodst Church from 1996 to 2008, having also served United Methodist Churches in Garden City, Conway Springs, Milton, Peabody and Ellinwood-Salem.
On Aug. 11, 1988, he married Susan Speer Rankin at Conway Springs. Other survivors include son Jake; daughter Mindy Rankin-Moore and her husband Brendan; brother Charles Schmitt; sister Linda Smith; grandchildren Gavin and Haley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Colleen; infant granddaughter Makayla; and nephew Justin Smith.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Kingman United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the Livingston Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3 with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with the Kingman United Methodist Church UMYF in care of the funeral home.
