Obituary

Julia “Judy” (Sheahan) Hageman

Julia Joyce “Judy” (Sheahan) Hageman, 82, died November 2, 2026 at Colwich Gardens surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 15, 1944 in Kingman, Kansas, the daughter of William (Billy) and Mabel Sheahan. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita, KS in 1962. Judy was a longtime resident of Kingman County, Kansas. She grew up and later raised her own family on the family farm in Willowdale, Kansas. It was there that she developed the values of hard work, faith, and family that remained central to her life.

Of all the titles Judy held throughout her 82 years, her three favorites were wife, mother, and grandma. She embraced each of these roles with her whole heart, always putting the needs of those she loved before her own.

At the center of Judy’s life was her extraordinary love for her husband, Daniel. On January 25, 1964, she married the love of her life, Daniel Hageman. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with faith, family, devotion, and love. Judy loved and adored Daniel with her whole heart, and their marriage was a beautiful testament to lifelong commitment. The love they shared was something special, a love their children and grandchildren were blessed to witness – one that will continue to inspire their family for generations.

Judy devoted her early years to raising her six children, Marilyn, Don, Joyce, Sarah, Bill and Angela and creating a loving home. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys, and her love for her children was immeasurable. One of the deepest heartbreaks of Judy’s life was the loss of her beloved daughter Sarah. Sarah’s passing left an ache in Judy’s heart that would never fully heal.

She extended that same motherly love to hundreds of children through her in-home daycare in Kingman, which she operated for more than 30 years. Caring for children was never simply a job for Judy, it was an extension of who she was. She had an endless capacity for nurturing little ones, and the countless children and families whose lives she touched are a lasting part of her legacy.

A devoted Catholic, Judy was an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Willowdale, Kansas. She generously gave her time and talents through the parish Altar Society and D of I. She worked at Southwestern Bell, as an EMT first responder, was actively involved in 4-H, and a religious education teacher. Whether someone needed a helping hand, a warm meal, or simply a caring heart and listening ear, Judy was always there.

Judy had a special way of showing her love, often arriving with a plate of homemade cookies or another sweet treat. Baking was one of the many ways she brought happiness to those around her, and her family and friends knew that a visit from Judy often came with something delicious and a whole lot of love.

Nothing made Judy happier than being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader, faithfully showing up for sporting events, concerts, school programs, and countless other activities. It didn’t matter what the occasion was; if one of her grandchildren was involved, Judy wanted to be there. And when there was a baby around, you could almost always find that little one in her arms. She never passed up an opportunity to hold, cuddle, and love on the youngest members of the family.

Proud of her Irish heritage, Judy loved celebrating all things Irish, especially anything green. Her generous heart, joyful spirit, and deep love for her family were among the many qualities that made her so special.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Daniel F. Hageman; her children, Marilyn (Michael) Sanders, Don (Shelly) Hageman, Joyce (Monty) Schreiner, Bill (Celia) Hageman, and Angela (Ekwensi) Griffith, her son-in-law, Chris Probst, her sister Pat Roberts, her brother in law Byron Reida.

She was also blessed with a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Luke, Zack, Julia, and Isaac Sanders; Rachael (Dustin) Miner and their children Macy, Ella, and Jade; Drew (Faith) Hageman; Katelyn Hageman; Gabrielle Schreiner (Triston Poell, fiancé); Chase (Zoe) Schreiner; Jude Schreiner and his children Peter, Caoimhe, and Athena; Claire (Ryan) Chapman and their daughter Hazel; Gabe, Carter, and Ellie Probst; Maya, Vincent and Hank Hageman; and Aliyah, Drake, Dexter, and Sierra Griffith. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sarah Probst; her parents, William and Mabel Sheahan; her siblings RoseMary Kerschen, Lawrence Sheahan, Rita Ann Reida, Jimmy Sheahan, Gerald Sheahan, Dennis Sheahan, and Elaine Wells.

Judy’s legacy is not measured simply by the years she lived, but by the countless lives she touched, the children she nurtured, the family she cherished, and the love she gave so freely. She showed her family what it meant to live with faith, to serve others, and to love without hesitation.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she shared will continue through the generations she helped raise and the many lives she made better. Her memory will live on in family gatherings, the cheers from the sidelines, the smell of freshly baked cookies, and every act of kindness inspired by her example.

The family will receive family and friends Sunday, November 8 from 4:00-5:30 pm with a rosary starting at 5:30 pm at Livingston’s Funeral Home, Kingman KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 9, 2026, St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Willowdale, Kansas at 10:00 am with burial following.

Memorials may be made with the St. Patrick Grade School or the St. Peter Catholic Church, and both mailed in care of Livingston Funeral Home, 1830 N. Main, Kingman KS 67068.
