KEVIN G. FAIRCHILD
Kevin G. Fairchild (Pink) passed away on March 21st, 2023, after a long, hard- fought battle with ALS.
Kevin was born and raised in Kingman and spent his life working and raising his family there. After graduating from Kingman High School in 1990, he began working at Fabpro. After Fabpro, Kevin started working in construction under his uncle Lowell Fairchild, and later went on to start his own construction company - K & S Construction. He worked in this field even after his diagnosis and shared his knowledge and work ethic with his children.
Kevin loved to be outdoors. One of his biggest passions was working with cattle. He loved spending time and working on the family farm. Kevin enjoyed hand fishing, coon and coyote hunting, and trapping. He could skin anything from coyotes to skunks and taught his son, John everything he knew. They made many memories doing this and continued to share these fond memories up until Kevin's death. In his early adult years, Kevin was an avid volleyball and softball player.
Music was a great love of Kevin's, and his talent was passed down to his children. He played in many bands throughout his life- Two Steps South, Possum Hunters, South of Town, Sun Down, Turnback Creek, and finally Free State Renegades. Kevin made some of his very best friends and best memories while playing in these bands. He was a talented guitar player, singer, and songwriter whose voice will be missed forever.
In December of 2001, Kevin married the love of his life, Shanon. They lived in rural Kingman County where they raised their family before moving into town in 2008. The two were the best of friends and remained in love and devoted to one another until the end.
Kevin was diagnosed with ALS in October of 2020. He remained working in construction, farming, taking care of his cattle, and playing music until his body began to fail him. Kevin's sense of humor and personality continued to shine through, despite his illness. He joked often and kept everyone laughing. He remained at home under Shanon's care until the day he passed.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Joyce Fairchild, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Kevin is survived by his wife Shanon, three daughters, Alisha, Josie, and Emily; two sons, John (Johnna) and Cade; all of the Kingman area. Kevin was lovingly known as "Grandpa Pink" to grandchildren Braeden, Briston, Amarey, Mia, Mila, and Sonny.
Other survivors include, a brother Todd (Stephanie) Fairchild, a sister Jacey (Aaron) Bedore, father and mother-in-law Dan and Amy Eklund, sisters-in-law Sherry Eklund and Samantha Boysen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
