LaVon (Allender) Parsons, 89, passed away Nov. 18, 2023 at Wheatlands Healthcare Center, Kingman.
She was born in Duquoin, Kansas on Dec. 31, 1933, the youngest child of Frank and Alice (Reida) Allender. LaVon graduated from Adams High School and it was there she met the love of her life, Donald Parsons. They were married on Dec. 22, 1951 in Anthony, Kansas. They were married for 71 years at the time of her death. Donald and their love for each other survives.
LaVon was a lifetime resident of the Rago community. She worked at the Kingman Hospital in the Surgical Supply Department. Following this, she was the Postmaster in the Rago Post Office until it closed. She was also a helpmate to Don on their farm. Following her retirement, they enjoyed traveling in the camper and exploring beautiful scenery on their Honda trike.
To their union was born a daughter and a son; they are estranged. LaVon is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. Her niece Ruby Pierce and her next door neighbor Bucky Sewell stepped in with love to assist both LaVon and Don when their health began to fail. They were truly a God send to them and were loved by LaVon and Donald. A sister-in-law Diana Parsons also survives.
LaVon was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Eldon Allender, Leona (Allender) Liddeke, Emmalee (Allender) Kraus and Lowell "Bud" Allender; brother-in-law Dale Parsons.
A graveside service and interment has taken place.
