Leo V. Krehbiel

Leo V. Krehbiel from Pretty Prairie, also known as "Pee Wee", 82, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 12, 2014, following an automobile accident south of Hutchinson. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Reta. Reta was with Leo at the time of the accident, and received minor injuries. He was preceded in death by parents Irvin and Mary Krehbiel. Leo is survived by his 3 sons, Mike and wife Sherry, Duane and wife Zondi, and Monte and wife Virginia. Leo has 7 grandchildren, David English, Tim Krehbiel and wife Carrie, Joe Krehbiel and wife Emily, Dr. Kacy Krehbiel and husband Chris Crowe, Sarah Krehbiel, Luke Krehbiel, Lisa Krehbiel, and 3 great-granddaughters, Kassie, Anabelle, and Lucy. He is also survived by his brother Harlan and his wife Helen.

Leo was born in Pretty Prairie on Feb. 27, 1932, and was a lifelong member of the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church. He spent his entire life in this area, graduating from Pretty Prairie High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, married during his service to Reta Krehbiel, also from Pretty Prairie, on April 10, 1954. He spent his early working years at Santa Fe Railroad, then at grain elevators in Varner and Whiteside, Kansas. He then started working for Morgan Chevrolet in Haven, Kansas and continued selling cars, at what is now Shep Chevrolet, until the day of his passing. Leo loved life, he loved his career, loved to hunt and golf. He was an avid supporter of the church and community functions. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He has been called a "larger than life character" and will be missed by hundreds of friends, relatives and acquaintances.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the First Mennonite Church in Pretty Prairie. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Livingston Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made with the First Mennonite Church or Pretty Prairie Scholarship Fund, both in care of the Livingston Funeral Home.
