Lorene Oak, 89, died April 24, 2022 at her home at Penalosa after years of bravely battling dementia.

She was born Jan. 19, 1933, at Langdon, Kansas the daughter of Ralph and Arbrie Goff Barr.  A lifetime resident of the Penalosa community, she was a homemaker.

Lorene was a member of the United Methodist Church and UMW, both of Penalosa; was a former 4-H leader; and was an election board volunteer.

On May 27, 1951, she married Melvin E. Oak at Penalosa; he died March 25, 1996.  Survivors include son Eugene "Bud" and wife Connie; daughters Zella Jacobs, Cindy Baker and husband Stan and Julie Price and husband Mitch; sisters Pat Warta and Clella DiOrio; grandchildren Kenny (Misty) Jacobs, David Kienzle, Brandy (Mark) Illausky, Ben (Maria) Oak, Clara (Garth) Gebhard, Dennis Baker, and Brittany (Tyler) Esposito; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by brothers Nelson and Clarence Barr.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Lerado Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Livingston Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made with the Penalosa United Methodist Church or Angel's Hospice, both in care of Livingston Funeral Home.
