Marcella Juanita Gangwere was born June 13, 1922, in Arkansas City, Kansas and died July 11, 2019. She was the daughter of Earl LeRoy and Ethel Hope Brown Young.
She married Robert Boise Gangwere on Oct. 13, 1944 in Arkansas City; he died Aug. 10, 2003. She obtained her Associates Degree from Arkansas City Community College where she was a cheerleader both years.
Survivors include two sons Robert Vance Gangwere and Jesse Earl Gangwere; daughter Michelle Gumble-Bradley; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother Doyle Young; and a sister Lois Lord.
Juanita worked at the city pool and Woolworth Department Store in Ark City; King Brothers Oil Co and Bailey's Farm Store, Hutchinson.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson and the Kingman United Methodist Church teaching the Mary Martha adult Sunday School Class, served as president of the United Methodist Womens and where she enjoyed reading the entire Bible at least twice. In her later years she was unable to attend services but able to watch them on TV every Sunday. She was an avid bowler, Cub Scout Den Mother, proficient at shorthand writing, sold insurance policies for Royal Neighbors of America and prepared income tax returns. Her hobbies included sewing clothing and many baby and full size quilts, gardening, canning and swimming one hour each day during the Summer until the age of 96. Her 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren remembering her singing and tucking them in at night, helping them with 4-H cooking projects and baking tons of cookies which she forced them to eat; plus she never hesitated to call her kids.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the Kingman United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 19 at the Livingston Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with the Kingman Community Hospital Oncology Dept. in care of the funeral home.
