Margaret Anne “Marnie” Mellott, 71, died April 4, 2026 in Wichita.

She was born Feb. 17, 1954, at Kingman the daughter of Guy Albert Cheatum II and Grace Russell Nauffts Cheatum. A longtime Kingman resident, having recently lived in Harper, Kansas, she was a former employee of Kingman County and the Kingman County Road and Bridge Dept.

Marnie grew up in Kingman with siblings Julie, Laurie and Janie. Marnie graduated from Kingman High School in 1972. She could often be found causing trouble with Linda, Susan and Lois. They called themselves the “Red Ford Gang”.

In 1972, Marnie married John Seyb and they had a son Timothy Jerome Seyb.

On June 4, 1977, she married Bobby Joe Mellott; he died Aug. 20, 2025. They had two daughters Kellie Anne Burnell and Julie Jo Mellott. They raised their family in Chase, Ellinwood and Kingman.

She is preceded in death by parents Guy and Grace; and great-grandchild Laken Seyb.

Survivors include siblings Julie Watson, Laurie Taylor and Janie Hawkins. Her children Tim Seyb, Kellie (Brandon) Burnell, and Julie Mellott; grandchildren Dalton Seyb (Callie), Miranda Reida (Steven McMillen), Alissa Mellott, Madison Elder (James), and Karson Burnell; and great-grandchildren Koda Seyb, Carter Mellott, Memphis Seyb and Everlee McMillen.

Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 p.m., Thursday until 2:00 p.m., at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
