MARJORIE J. THISSEN

Marjorie J. Thissen, 83, died Oct. 28, 2010 at her home in Kingman.

She was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Kingman County, the daughter of W.E. "Willie" and Edith Litchfield Stead. A lifetime resident of the Kingman community, she was a former substitute teacher and employee of the First National Bank of Kingman.

She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella, all of Kingman; an Emporia State Teacher's College graduate; and was a former board member of the Kingman County Council on Aging.

On July 19, 1948, she married Bernard J. Thissen at Kingman; he died Oct. 27, 1991. Survivors include 3 sons, Steve, Avon, CO, Tim, Greely, CO and Brian, Chandler, AZ; 2 daughters Kathy Thissen, Glenwood Springs, CO and Kay Hartley, Kingman; sister Lucille Mall Williams, Girard, KS; 6 grandchildren Hillary Thissen, Tucker Thissen, Molly Lusk, Will, Chet and Tal Hartley; and 1 great-grandchild, Hayden Hartley. She was also preceded in death by a brother John Stead.

Parish rosary will be 5:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Monday also at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Friends may call from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m., Sunday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in the Hoosier Cemetery, Kingman.

Memorials may be made with the St. Patrick School or the Kingman County Council on Aging, both in care of the funeral home.
