MARJORIE R. MARTIN

Marjorie R. Martin, 97, died June 30, 2014, at the Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie.

She was born July 11, 1916, at Pretty Prairie the daughter of Ray and Goldie Childes Brownlee. A longtime Pretty Prairie resident, she was a retired teacher having taught in Whiteriver, Arizona, Owyee, Nevada, Yoder as well as several other schools in Kansas.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pretty Prairie and served in the Women's Army Corp during WWII.

On June 2, 1945, she married Lewis L. Martin; he died May 20, 2013. Survivors include one son Donald; daughters Clara Martin, Roberta Herz, Nancy Hannan and Lunda Sturr; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by brothers Ralph, Jim and Lynn; and sisters Mary Yule and May Shaw.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Livingston Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.

Memorials may be made with the Pretty Prairie Library and the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church both in care of the funeral home.
