Obituary

MARSHA ANN BOWMAKER-STROTHMAN

Marsha Ann Bowmaker-Strothman, 72, of Kingman, KS, died October 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at her home.

She was born on August 16, 1954, the daughter of Richard and Angela Molitor. On November 8, 1975, she married Robert M. Bowmaker, with whom she had three children. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1996. She married Michael L. Strothman on September 30, 2005.

Marsha devoted her life to the healing ministry of nursing. She spent many years providing vital care in the ER, immediate care, and as a cardiac ICU nurse. She retired from the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, KS in 2016. Marsha was deeply devoted to her family and to her Catholic faith.

She lived her faith not through loud proclamations but through quiet devotion and humble service. She truly lived the ‘Little Way’ of St. Thérèse, turning everyday tasks like cleaning and organizing into sacred acts of love and prayer. Just as she found God’s peace in the stillness of her home, she also found immense joy in the beauty of the outdoors. Her absolute favorite days were spent at the lake, where she was happiest watching the water and cherishing every moment surrounded by the laughter of the family she adored.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Molitor. She is survived by her mother, Angela (Patry) Molitor; husband, Mike Strothman; her children, Curt Bowmaker and his wife, Monica, Renee Bowmaker, and Amy Heatherman and her husband, Jeff; her stepchildren, Sara Pursley and her husband, Aaron, and Adam Strothman; her grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Blake, Tessa, and Leah Bowmaker, Robyn and Kodi Heatherman, Kellen and Sophia Meyer, Kayden Pursley, and Beau and Dylan Strothman; and her siblings, Mike Molitor, Debbie Obrock, Connie Oak, Sandy Walbridge, Nancy Dailey, and Lisa Schmidt, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

A rosary service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kingman, KS, on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial, also at St. Patrick’s, will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will immediately follow Mass at St. John’s Cemetery, Zenda, KS.
