Mary Irene Bergkamp, 88, died Oct. 26, 2017, in Wichita.
She was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Kingman the daughter of George F. and Mary Wehkamp Welling. Irene was a former Commercial Accounts Manager for the Wichita Division of the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Kingman; and was a Charter member of the Kingman County Historical Society. She pieced and quilted many quilts.

On Oct. 27, 1948, she married Art Bergkamp at Waterloo, Kansas; he died Oct. 3, 2015. Survivors include a son Alan and his wife Sharon; grandchildren William, Mindy Richmond and husband Tim, Liz Johnson and husband Jay; great-granddaughters Mia, Carmen and Ruby Richmond, and Cheyenne Johnson; and great-grandson Miles Richmond. She was also preceded in death by a son Bruce; and an infant brother Raymond Welling.

Parish rosary will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Waterloo with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Burial will be in the St. Louis Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made with the Kingman Historical Society, the Waterloo Cemetery Fund, or Harry Hynes Hospice, all in care of the funeral home.
