Obituary

Mary Armeda (Douthett) Robinson

Mary Armeda (Douthett) Robinson died May 27, 2020, surrounded by her family, at Larksfield Place in Wichita. She was born April 13, 1923, on the family farm near Isabel, KS, the daughter of Roy & Bertha (Brown) Douthett. Mary married Walter Robinson August 20, 1944 in Isabel. They shared nearly 73 years of marriage before Walter's death in 2017.

She graduated from Isabel High School, and became a Registered Nurse, graduating with the class of 1944 from Wesley Hospital School of Nursing. She loved being a nurse, and worked for many years at the small hospital in Nashville.

Mary was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Nashville, then in Kingman, and was active in Presbyterian Women in both churches. Since moving to Wichita, she has enjoyed and appreciated the television ministry of the First Methodist Church.

She was a 4-H leader when her children were young, and participated in her Extension Unit activities, serving both the local club and on the countywide council.

She was a country cook of the best kind, known especially as a great pie maker. The only thing better than her apple pie in the fall was her fresh peach pie in late summer, or her cherry pie in the springtime made with tart cherries picked from the backyard tree on the farm.

Mary is survived by son Robert (Janet) Robinson of Wichita; daughter Jannette (Dan) Bonine of Great Bend; daughter Carolyn (Tom) Banion of Denver; 7 grandchildren, Carver Bonine, Jilinda Crowley, David Bonine, Lindsay Goode, Betsy Machain, Brooke DeCarlo, and Mike Banion, and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Presbyterian Church at Kingman, or the First Methodist Church, Wichita, television ministry.

There will be a private family burial, with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
