MARY VIRGINIA GARTEN

Mary Virginia Garten, 93, died Feb. 3, 2026 in Hutchinson.

She was born April 16, 1932, at Boston Pool, Oklahoma the daughter of Edwin Leo and Grace Leona Butler Newport. A longtime resident of the Norwich community, she was a homemaker.

Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hazelton.

On April 21, 1951, she married Fred Garten at Sun City; he died March 15, 2024. Survivors include sons Curtis and Travis; brother Edward Newport; sisters Barbara Thorton and Lucille Snider; grandchildren Crystal (Austin) Moots, Tyler (Chessica) Garten, Casey (Brianna) Garten, Dayla Garten and Destani (Kendall) Miller; and great-grandchildren Dylan, Kolbi, Tanner, Taite, Paisley, Hadley, Truitt, Bear, Easton, Blakely, Kayne, Decklynn. She was also preceded in death by a sister Wilma Clawson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, 2026 at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 3:45 p.m., Monday at Sun City Cemetery.
