Milton E. Brooks, 94, died Oct. 23, 2014, at his home outside Cunningham.
He was born Feb. 28, 1920, at Manor, Georgia the son of Horace H. and Minnie Cribb Brooks. A longtime resident of Cunningham, he was a retired school administrator, teacher, coach and for twenty-two years a school superintendent serving school districts in Oklahoma and Kansas,. In1983 he received the Kansas Outstanding School Rural Administrator award; and in 1998 he became an ordained minister.
He held dual memberships in the Cunningham Christian and the Brookville (Florida) Christian Churches; and was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater.
On Oct. 10, 1943, he married Joy Ruth Jenlink in Jet, Oklahoma. Other survivors include a son Jerry Lynn Brooks; daughter Joyce Gridley and husband Lowell; brothers Carl, J.H., Charles, Eugene and Jackie; sisters Sylvia Nell Fontaine and Mary Lou Sapp; 5 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Hugh, Curtis, Roy, Rossie and Bobby; and sisters Gladys Couch, Jeannette Gardner and Nina Gillette.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at the Cunningham Christian Church. Burial of cremains will follow services at the Maud Cemetery.
