Obituary

PATRICK A. “PAT” GOFF

Patrick A. “Pat” Goff, 82, died Dec. 13, 2025 at his home.

He was born Nov. 6, 1943, in Richmond California, the son of Dennis O. Gaunt and Dorothy Sanders Gaunt, both formerly of Great Bend Ks. While working as a police officer in the shipyard, Dennis was stuck by lightning & was no loger able to care for a family. This unfortunate circustance would force Dorothy and the boys to return to Kansas where Dorothy met and later remarried to Charles L. Goff, a local farmer & Pat's adopted father. Shortly after gradation, Pat worked for Garvey Elevators & helped construct many of the elevators you still see around Kansas today. This was when he met a local elementary school teaching by the name of Joan Smerchek. It wasn't long before they decided to start a family and not wanting to miss out on his boys childhood, Pat took a job as a lease operator at what would become Oxydental Petroleum, a local oil & gas production company. Later, he joined and retired from the Kingman County Road & Bridge Department.

Pat was a member of Ninnescah Lodge #230 A.F.&A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Midian Shrine; he was a member of the Kingman Country Club; was a former Scout Master and also helped coach his boys sports teams. Since Pat left quite early for work he was usually home before Joan & the boys returened form school. Luckily for everyone involved, this helped turn Pat into one heck of Cook! From soup to nuts, he could do it all.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan Smerchek Goff, a former 5th grade teacher to whom he married on October 6th 1967. Other survivors include two sons, Allen and his wife Denise, and Charles, “Chuck” and his wife Melissa; older brother Dennis Goff; and one grandchild Quintz Goff. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Trenton.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025 at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 19, 2025 at the funeral home. Family burial services will be at a later date.We ask that any Memorials or donations made, be with the Kingman “Share the Love” group and may be sent in care of the Livingston Funeral Home, 1830 N. Main, Kingman KS 67068.
