Obituary

Paul Handkins, 96, went to be with Jesus on September 13, 2017. He was born March 18, 1921 in Kingman County, the son of Earl and Pauline Handkins. After graduating from Kingman High School, Paul worked for the railroad a short time before starting a service garage 11 miles south of Kingman. In 1942 he joined the Army Air Corps to serve in World War II. He served as a radio operator from various bases across the states as well as in Panama. After three and a half years in the Army, he returned home to Kingman County and began farming. Paul married Dorothy Weniger, December 31, 1944. With the exception of his army years, he lived all but the last seven years of his life in Kingman County, a place he loved. Paul was a faithful member of Kingman First Baptist church for 60 years before moving to Wichita and joining Sunnyside Baptist Church of Wichita. He was a godly man who faithfully served his family and his community.

Paul is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 72 years; daughters Alice (Rick) Bair of Wichita, Carolyn (Robert) Behnke of Bushton; Linda Alldritt of Lawrence; Paula (Rob) Raine of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at Kingman Livingston Mortuary Monday, September 18 from 1:00 to 8:00 with family present from 5:00 to 7:00. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 19 at 2:00 at Sunnyside Baptist Church, 2618 E Morris, Wichita, KS, with internment at Vinita Cemetery of Cheney. Memorial to Victory Village Christian Academy, Hutchinson, KS.
