Reed Wayne Graber
Reed Wayne Graber, 84, died March 25, 2021, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie. He was born May 8, 1936, in Kingman to Hilda and Philip J. Graber.
He lived most of his life near Pretty Prairie and was a graduate of Pretty Prairie High School. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church and was involved in many church activities. From 1955-57, as a conscientious objector, he served his country peacefully in 1W alternative service as an orderly at General Rose Memorial Hospital, Denver.
He returned to Kansas and married Alice Elaine Wedel on Sept. 12, 1958. They farmed outside Pretty Prairie until their retirement in 2017. She preceded him in death in 2020.
Survivors include children, Debra (Katharine) of Lawrence, and Kelson (Kenna) of Peabody; grandchildren, Reid, Jakob, Zoe, and Ava; two sisters, Winona Bright of Phoenix, and Orletha (Jim) Martens of Hutchinson; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was buried in the cemetery at First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie. The family suggests memorials to Future Farmers of America.
