Obituary

Ricky A. Graber, 71, died July 20 at his home in Mt. Olive, Alabama after a long illness.


He was born June 17, 1954 in Pratt, KS, the son of Bill and Ernestine (Vincent) Graber. Rick attended most of his school years in Pratt, and was a graduate of Larned High School after his family moved to Larned before his senior year. He later attended Barton County Community College and Wichita State University. He enjoyed working in various occupations but his true calling was working in the health field as an RN. He  received the prestigious National Daisy Award in 2011 for outstanding patient care. He had worked in many areas including Med/Surg, ED, ICU, CVICU, cath lab and dialysis. He had even been known to sing for his patients, as singing was a life-long passion.

Survivors include one daughter Rashelle (Matt) Schrag and one son Erik Graber; his father Bill Graber; sister Jo (Gil) Staab; brother Bill (Ann) Graber; grandchildren Ayden, Avery, Allison, Annah, and Aubree Schrag; an aunt, uncle, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
