ROBERT RAYMOND ZRUBEK

Robert Raymond Zrubek, 73, lost his hard fought battle with esophageal cancer Jan. 3, 2014, at his home in Wichita.
He was born June 18, 1940, at Nashville, Kansas, the son of Raymond John and Mildred Agnes Hellar Zrubek. The younger of two boys, Kenneth Zrubek, his brother resides in New York City. His family lived in Cunningham, Kansas where he graduated from High School. He attended Pratt Community College and transferred to Kansas State University where he received his Electrical Engineering Degree in 1963.
On Sept. 8, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart Patricia Ann Becker. Other survivors include daughter Deborah Ann Zrubek and her boyfriend Gary Mercer. Robert started his career in Wichita, Kansas for KG&E. After a few years he went to work for General Electric where he retired after 30 years of service.
In retirement he enjoyed playing tennis, any K-State sporting event or activity , working on cars, and drinking wines. He was known for his great smile, sense of humor and his love of family.
Robert was a parishioner at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Wichita, Kansas.
Parish rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Monday at the St. Francis of Assisi Church , Wichita. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Monday at the Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cunningham, Kansas. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
Robert wished that any memorials be given to the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery Fund.
