Samuel Bruce "Sam" Livingston, 82, left this world on Nov. 2, 2023.

Sam was born on March 26, 1941, in Kingman, Kansas the only child of Bruce and Lucile Prather Livingston.

Sam battled brain cancer for only a few months. Despite spending much of that time in and out of doctor appointments and treatment planning, he never lost his sense of humor or his dedication to his faith.

Sam grew up in Kingman graduating from Kingman High School in 1959.  After graduation he attended Emporia State University and the graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service school in Dallas, Texas.

In 1963, he married Janice Kay Sampson in Wichita.  Sam returned to Kingman join his dad at the Livingston Furniture, Funeral and Undertaking, the third generation to do so.  He remained there as a funeral director until his dad retired.  Sam then devoted full time to his farming and ranching operations.

Sam loved the outdoors.  A highlight of his learning was to pilot his helicopter.  He loved checking his fields and cattle from the sky.

Hobbies?  If you asked Sam what hobbies he had, he would answer, "retired farmers don't have hobbies."

Sam was a member of Ninnescah Lodge #230 A.F.&A.M., the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Midian Shrine Temple.  Throughout his life he served on various community and Church boards.

Survivors include his wife Jan; three children Samuel, Stacy (Terry) and Scott (Amy); six grandchildren Samuel, Brook, Jamie (Jared), Andy, Kyle and Anna; and two great-grandchildren Masyn and Easton.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023 at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.  Burial with Masonic Rites will be at the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
