Steve Hundley, 72, former coach and educator for Bentonville Schools, passed away, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. He was born September 3, 1943 in Wellington, Kansas to Perry William and Maxine Roth Hundley.
He graduated from Kingman High School and received his degree and Masters in Education from Emporia State University in Kansas. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout.
Coach Hundley was known for his quirky dry humor, complete dedication to his students and athletes, passion for golf, and his love and generosity for his family. Steve always enjoyed reminiscing with past students and colleagues. After retiring from teaching, he treasured the friends he made while working and playing at Lost Springs Golf Course. His extensive knowledge of sports made him a candidate to coach in every field, from gymnastics, to tennis, to football, to track.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dr. Perry "Gene" Hundley.
Steve is survived and loved by his children, Justin Hundley and wife, Erin of Bentonville and Justin's mother, Linda Hundley, Natalie Jabusch and husband, Brandon of Bella Vista, AR, Jessica Miller of Bentonville, Jeremy Miller and wife, Lindsey of Austin, Texas and their mother, Elizabeth Hundley; one brother, John Hundley of Kingman, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Holland, Sarah Connley, Shelby Fears, Madison Hundley, Sophia Morey, Max Miller, Declan Miller and many dear colleagues, former students and friends.
Funeral services will be at 12 Noon, Monday, February 29, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Kurt Boggan officiating.
Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time.
Graveside services will be at 3:30PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Kingman, Kansas.
