GUS GOETZ

Sylvester J. “Gus” Goetz, 83, died March 1, 2026 in Wichita.

He was born April 26, 1942, at Kingman the son of August W and Mary J. Ziegler Goetz. A longtime resident of the Willowdale and Kingman communities, he was a retired propane delivery driver for Phillips 66 and Langley Oil.

Gus was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman, the Knights of Columbus, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

On Feb. 11, 1972, he married Myrtle M. “Myrt” Tackett at Lakin, Kansas; she died Sept. 14, 2024. Survivors include daughter Sarah Smith and her husband Chad; brother Cletus; sisters Dorothy Neal and Mildred Dare; and 4 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son Earl; a brother Nobert; and sisters Bertha Fischer, Lorraine Cline, Agnes Hiefner and Eleanor Miller.

Parish rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman with the family receiving friends at 6:00 p.m. that evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2026 at the St. Peter Catholic Church, Willowdale. Burial will be in the St. Peter Catholic Church Cemetery.
