Virginia Laverentz, 96, died April 3, 2020, at Wheatlands Healthcare Center, Kingman.
She was born March 28, 1924, at Nashville, Kansas the daughter of Joseph and Clara Brown Mattal. A resident of the Nashville community most of her life, living in Cheney, Kansas from 1998 to 2013, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service after thirty-five years of service retiring as Postmaster.
Virginia was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Nashville and the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cheney.
On Dec. 24, 1943, she married Henry W. Laverentz at Nashville; he died April 2, 1988. Survivors include two daughters Linda Vierthaler and Jolene Heatherman; brother Joe Mattal; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by brothers Robert Mattal, Sr., Edward Mattal and Clarence Mattal, sisters Effie Mae Mattal, Grace Pike, Blanche Coleman, Eunice Mattal and Phyllis McCollom; and granddaughter Jennifer Clouse.
With current health concerns in mind visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the St. John Lutheran Church, Nashville with private family funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with the St. John Lutheran Church in care of Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, KS.
