W. Gene Fairchild, 89, died Feb. 8, 2012.
He was born May 22, 1922, in Kingman County, the son of U. Grant and Ima Jean Ramsey Fairchild. A lifetime resident of the Kingman community, he was a retired farmer, Missouri-Pacific Railroad employee, and sexton at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
He was a member of the Kingman Christian Church.
On Aug. 1, 1940, he married Arlyn Faye Schroff at Salina; she died Dec. 11, 1995. Survivors include sons Lowell and Bob; 7 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by son Mike; brothers Stanley and Dean; sisters Josephine, Sybil, Claudie and Pauline; grandchildren Deanna Peters , Sam Burnett and Laura Fairchild; and great-grandchildren Josh and Angela Peters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made with the Kingman Community Hospital Oncology Dept. of Kingman Community Theater Association Digital Projector Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
