Wilda M. Reynolds Layman was born Dec. 15, 1925 in Kingman and passed away Feb. 20, 2021 at Wheatlands Health Care Center at the age of 95.
She was born in Kingman, the daughter of Omar O. "Tobe" Reynolds and Winifred D. "Winnie" Woodson Reynolds. She attended Kingman Public Schools and graduated from Kingman High School in 1943 and went to work for the FLUOR Cooperation in Greensburg, Kansas working as their clerk.
She married Roy Layman at the end of his service with the Army Air Corp in WWII in 1945.
They lived on the family farm and had four children. She later went to work for USD #331 as a school secretary for many years.
She was a member of the Kingman Christian Church, where she sang and played organ as a young adult, the CWF, Quilters Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and South Central Kansas Office Personnel Association. She also crocheted hundreds of names for family and friends, birthdays, weddings and keepsakes over the years.
Surviving children Dennis (Debra) Layman, Phil Layman, Jana (Pat) Eller; grandchildren Michelle (Jim) Mellody, Ryan Layman, Jamie (Hiel) Smith, Shannon, Jeff and Jennifer Layman; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; son Scott; and grandson Matt Eller.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 at the Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the Livingston Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made with the Kingman Christian Church, The Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy Fund both, in care of Livingston Funeral Home.
