"Bill" Probst
June 12, 1944 – October 17, 2023
William E. (Bill) Probst, 79, died October 17, 2023, at Wheatlands in Kingman. Bill was born on June 12, 1944, on the family farm west of Kingman. He was the third son of William J. and Dorothy (Pelzl) Probst. After graduating from Kingman schools in 1962, Bill attended Pittsburg State, where he was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, the math honor society at PSU. After earning a degree in math in 1966, Bill taught at Galena and Pamona schools. He then moved to Phoenix, AZ, taking a job with Machinco Inc., Gears Custom Machining. Bill would go out to mines that used rock crushers, where he would measure the wear on the gear teeth. He took the measurements back to the factory in Phoneix, where replacements were manufactured. He stayed with the company until the owner died. Bill moved to Prescott Valley, living there until he came back to the Kingman area in June,, 2014.
Bill surprised his family when he began ballroom dancing lessons. He and his partner participated in competitions in Las Vegas, earning high marks.
Bill is survived by his brothers: Tony, Leonard, Jim (Bonnie), his sisters: Sister LeAnn, Marilyn Pendergraft, Patricia(Max),, Deb (Randy) Kaufman, Eileen Lohmeyer, and numerous nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Dorothy Probst, his brother Richard, his sister Jeanne McNeff, and his brother-in-law Mike Lohmeyer.
Bill's sense of humor, his ability to figure out how to do almost anything, and his gift of befriending many will be missed.
Bill chose to be cremated.
Parish rosary will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment of the cremains will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cunningham.
