ZELMA DEWEESE

KINGMAN - Zelma DeWeese, 96, died Nov. 8, 2008, in Kingman. She was born Dec. 18, 1911, near Murdock, the daughter of Henry Thomas and Julia Ann Jones Harris. A resident of Kingman County most of her life, she was a former rural school teacher, and also taught at Kingman Elementary and St. Patrick's Grade Schools.

She belonged to the United Methodist Church, UMW, and Guild I, all at Kingman.

On July 3, 1938, she married John Hill DeWeese, in Murdock. He died Feb. 10, 1978. Survivors include: sister, Viola Harner, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Verdi, Merritt, Ethmer, Odon, Urban, Harland, Gilbert, Donald, Kenneth and Loren, and a sister, Dorothy Catanzaro.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, with the Rev. Don Flanner presiding. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Maud Cemetery, Cunningham. Visitation will be form 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the Kingman United Methodist Church, in care of Livingston Funeral Home, 1830 North Main, Kingman, Ks 67068.
